This #WorldChildrenDay2020 comes amid a global pandemic and instability, but our children are staying stronger than ever! Listen to how they’re getting through the tough days and their dreams for the future.
Today we mark International Literacy Day (ILD) 2020, with a focus on literacy teaching and learning in the context of COVID-19 and beyond. Throughout the pandemic, teaching and learning strategies were reimagined to minimize the impact of school closures. Teachers faced changes to their working conditions, and technology became the key player over the past few months. So what was the situation like for teacher and students in Egypt?
Soad*, a Syrian primary school teacher living in Cairo, could never have prepared herself for the current COVID-19 crisis. Like many mothers, Soad struggled to find sufficient hygiene and sterilization products after panic buying resulted in shortages and over-pricing.
On the 19th of August of each year, we mark World Humanitarian Day (WHD) to pay tribute to aid workers who exert every effort through humanitarian service. This WHD we want to highlight the efforts of our staff at Save the Children, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite making it harder than ever for humanitarians to stay and deliver for children and those most in need, our teams have remained present and more determined than ever.
