On World Humanitarian Day (WHD) we pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and rally support for people affected by crises around the world. On this, WHD 2018, we sat down with Elsa, a veteran humanitarian worker who works with Save the Children helping African refugees in Egypt.

This year Save the Children, in collaboration with UNHCR, commemorated World Refugee Day with more than 300 people from different nationalities, communities, and organizations at the Sawy Culture Wheel in Cairo.

Under the theme of “The World is Yours” Marah, Mohamed and other Syrian children participated in an event organized by Save the Children in Egypt and UNHCR, the day aimed to teach children about other cultures and traditions and that home is anywhere they are.

Save the Children commemorates World Refugee Day on the 20th of June by sharing success story for one of the refugees who had a lot of challenges but were able to face them. Nermine* is #NotJustARefugee, through Save the Children’s interventions and activities, she was able to start a new beginning in Egypt.
