This year’s16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence were full of engaging activities involving participants and volunteers from different backgrounds and age groups.

Lujain was only 16 years old when she fled Syria with her family and settled in Egypt. Being the eldest among 4 sisters and with a father who is unable to work; she had to work to generate income for her family.

On World Humanitarian Day (WHD) we pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and rally support for people affected by crises around the world. On this, WHD 2018, we sat down with Elsa, a veteran humanitarian worker who works with Save the Children helping African refugees in Egypt.

This year Save the Children, in collaboration with UNHCR, commemorated World Refugee Day with more than 300 people from different nationalities, communities, and organizations at the Sawy Culture Wheel in Cairo.

Under the theme of “The World is Yours” Marah, Mohamed and other Syrian children participated in an event organized by Save the Children in Egypt and UNHCR, the day aimed to teach children about other cultures and traditions and that home is anywhere they are.
